ADAM CD

Home Up

One of the sections in the A.D.A.M./Marieb Interactive Physiology CD is the Nervous System that delves into the cellular aspects of the nervous system ("The Neuron").  Here is the overview from that CD:

The yellow-highlighted units are the ones you should go through for Unit 10.  You can look at the "orientation" section, but it is only one slide that tells you the titles of the other 4 sections.

I had high hopes for the "ion channels" section, but I was disappointed in it.  You know how I have introduced channels as being either leak pores or other channels (the ones with the question marks in them), right?  I have also described a pump that is used for active transport, the sodium-potassium pump.   Well, in the Ion Channels section of the A.D.A.M. CD, they use other terminology which might just scare someone.  If you end up looking through this, just know that when they use the word "active," it has nothing to do with ATP.  Can you believe it?!

Also, although I suggest going through "The Membrane Potential" section, the last half seems really complicated to me.  Let me know what you think, OK?  Maybe we'll have a chance to talk about this on Monday.
