Welcome to BIOL102, Principles of Biology I!

image of a frog eating    This website should offer assistance to students who are enrolled in Principles of Biology I at STCC.  The lecture topics for this course are divided into lessons.  These lessons are contained within one of three units, offering students some insight into how their course content relates to the world.image of a frog dancing  The units are genetic disease, cancer, and global warming.

Only lecture content is written up in this website.  The laboratory component is only provided in print at school and is carried out entirely at school.  There are, however, many links on the "useful links" website that can help you learn about the material you work on in both lecture and lab.  Take the time to go through those links!

For the Spring semester of 2007, Dr. Tamarkin's Principles of Biology I class will require registration into a BlackBoard website specifically for her class.  From there you will find much additional information for the course as it takes place.

Meanwhile, if you find a really great website that you think would be of use to the whole class, or if you wish to provide me with feedback on information in this website, you can always e-mail it to me.

If you are interested in taking this class at a distance, Michele Nash and Lisa Rapp are offering it as hybrid courses.  That means that you can take their lecture component online, but you will need to come in for labs.
