You will find out a bit about the distance BIOL102 course organization and how to get started from this page.

Getting Started:

  1. We will have an in-person meeting on the first night of class.  This is an optional meeting, because some people live out of town, but I highly recommend that you attend if at all possible.  The meeting will be on 1/28 at 5PM, in building 2, room 601.  Please try to attend!!!  If you cannot attend, please let me know and I will have some little tasks for you to carry out.
  2. Send me an e-mail!  If the e-mail link at the bottom doesn't work, just write me at:  tamarkin@stcc.edu.   I need to have your e-mail address to begin writing you.  In your e-mail, include the following:
    1. Your mailing address (a good one where things will be received easily).
    2. Your phone numbers (any where I can reach you-- just in case we need to talk on the phone).
    3. Please let me know which evening will work best for you for any optional on-campus meetings.
  3. You will need to purchase your textbook and a lab kit from our bookstore.  The textbook is a blue, soft cover book, called BioInquiry.  The books are currently available, but the lab kits will not be available until the week classes begin (we are still awaiting the arrival of some of the components of the kit, and then I have to finish assembling them).  If you live far from campus, the bookstore will be happy to mail the book and kit to you.
  4. Please read through the planned layout for this class to see how it will operate on a weekly basis.  That way, you will be familiar with how the class will run before we ever get started.
  5. You will need to register in our BlackBoard course site.  I will reply to your e-mail above with the password to get in, so that you can begin there.

That's all!  Its not a lot to do to get started, even if your head is beginning to spin like this crazy mouse!  I will have another task for you soon, and I'll update this page then (and e-mail anyone who has already written).  I look forward to hearing from you!
