Your Proposal
Home Up Your Presentation

This proposal must be submitted by 2/11/01, by midnight.  You can choose to do this alone or with a lab partner.

Your Name:

Your Email:

Your Partner's Name (optional)

Your Observations (the ones that you are most interested in):

Text Box: Your Question (the 1 that you wish to study):

Your Hypothesis (re-write the question into a statement):

Your Test:

Devise a test that will answer the above question.  Be specific!  State specific numbers of plants, measurements that will be taken, when they will be taken, any control groups needed, etc…  Do not limit yourself to the materials I have sent you-- if you need something extra to do your project, we will figure out a way to accomplish that together.  OK?  Note:  be sure to be specific-- if you just say you will check how the plants "grow," that does not tell me in what way.  Really try to figure out exactly what you will measure.

Are there any comments you would like to make to me about this?

Your Results

Results of this experiment will be presented to the class later in the semester after the Fast Plants have grown and the experiments are complete.  Results will most likely be available for review by the rest of the class.  The presentation will have several sections, as outlined in more detail under Your Presentation:

bulletIntroduction - This will contain your observations and the question that came from them.
bulletHypothesis
bulletMaterials and Methods - Exactly how did you do the experiment. If someone wanted to repeat it, what would they do?
bulletResults - what were the results of the experiment?
bulletDiscussion - What did you learned?  What would you do next?

To make a good poster you will have to know exactly what was done in the experiment.  Take careful notes! Keep track of everything!
