“High achievement always takes place in the framework of high expectation.”  Jack Kinder

Ever since I can remember, I wanted to be a teacher.  I believe teaching is one of the highest helping relationships, and I'm very proud to be a member of this noble profession.

After graduating with my bachelor of science degree in Business Education and English (and getting married), I lived in Okinawa, Japan, where I had the opportunity to teach GI's before and after their tours in Vietnam.  While being stationed in the Orient, we had the opportunity to travel to Tokyo, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Thailand.

After returning to the states, I taught business courses in a private school in West Springfield.  At the same time, I completed my master of arts in teaching degree and applied for an opening at STCC.

As a community college graduate, joining the STCC faculty felt like coming home.  Since I've been here, I've taught courses in Court Reporting Information Technologies, Office Information Technologies, and Computer Information Technologies.  Along the way, I completed my doctorate in education.  My professional development has included a myriad of seminars, certification programs, and continuing education courses, and I never stop learning.  Currently, I am focusing on Universal Design in teaching and learning.    Throughout my years at STCC, I've served as department chairman, club advisor, and on a host of committees.

Even though I retired in 2008, I'm continuing my teaching at STCC as an adjunct professor.  My focus will be on distance and hybrid courses in programming and computer concepts.

My husband, among other things, is an accomplished photographer; and I share his love of photography.  We have spectacular images of our trips throughout the USA.  We both work with computers and we love movies and music.   While my husband is creating pictures or working on a carpentry project, I'm usually working on something related to my teaching, our home and family, or reading a good mystery.

Welcome to STCC!

I look forward to meeting you and helping you along your educational journey.

God bless.
