Course Description Guide: Topics include a review of arithmetic, integers, simplification of algebraic expressions, solving linear equations and inequalities, polynomials and operations with polynomials, factoring, and solving quadratic equations by factoring.
The homework assignments are the marginal problems in each chapter and the problems at the end of each section. Answers are given in the textbook. I strongly recommend that you attempt as many as possible of these problems.
Students are expected to follow the time line for each quiz/exam. If a student misses the deadline for a quiz/exam, the score for that quiz/exam will be a zero. a student can take any quiz/exam before the deadline date. The date written on top of each quiz is the last day that a student can take the quiz/exam. A student who misses more than 3 exams will be dropped from the course.
Sixteen quizzes will be given in this course . These quizzes will count only 50% of your grade. You are allowed to take each quiz only one time. The other 50% of the grade will be based on the remaining three module exams which will be given on line. Additional Help:We may have students available for help during the summer. Those students will be located in the math center in building 17 room 425. The center is open Mon-Thursday from 8:00am to 2:30pm. If you are having a difficulty with a topic, I highly recommend a visit to the math center. The service is free to all of our students. Please call the Math Center at STCC to check their hours before you make you tip.
